Anxiety is a natural expression among all living beings. A person encounters anxiety at one time or another during his lifetime. This might be due to an event like a death of a loved one, calamity due to destruction of house or property, loss of job, disappointment in family affairs or relationships. Recently, a friend of mine suffered job loss and was contemplating suicide. I had to personally talk to him out of it. This was aggravated by the fact that he was facing discordant relationships at home. Usually, anxiety is not singular in character, but accompanied by multiple breakdowns. Perhaps, it is the nature of anxiety to be of multiple characters.
Animals are known to display anxiety in the form of separation anxiety. Pets may choose to chew, bark, whine, scratch furniture, or mutilate their body, if left alone in confinement. Animals with this behaviour are known to be ultra sensitive. In many cases, doors or windows are broken in escape attempts. Animals experience extreme stress in such situations and are known to show such symptoms. Hence, stress can be termed as the main source of anxiety. Therapists suggest calm in handling anxiety affected animals. They advise to provide attention and company to such animals.
There are many ways of dealing with anxiety. To deal with anxiety, you need to know the cause or reason for it. One good way is to analyse the reason for your foul mood. Stress as we know is the main cause of anxiety. To tackle stress, one must try to develop calm. Many people are known to take their lives lightly. Anxiety teaches us to take stock of our lives. It teaches us to face realities we have been ignoring or running away from. For instance, if we don’t save enough for a long time, we could end up in a situation, wherein we might land with serious debts and bad loans. This can cause severe anxiety, forcing us to cut down or foot our basic necessities, such as grocery bills, necessary apparel or winter clothing bills, trips to the internet cafĂ©, etc. This can eventually cause us to isolate and withdraw into a shell from the rest of society. Hence, developing healthy saving habits help us stay in good standing in the face of difficult situations and prevent anxiety. Another reason for anxiety developing in people is among those who do not maintain healthy or lasting relationships. People who are single, loners, or having a history of discordant relationships are known to exhibit symptoms of anxiety related stress. By maintaining relationships at home, staying in touch with friends, trying to live with partners and trying to amalgamate with our immediate society such as workplace, neighbourhood, community or town enables us to be less prone to anxiety.
People are also prone to anxiety, if they do not meet the targets they set for themselves. These people breathe on high peaks and valleys. High amount of excitement, coupled with very high leverage of expectations can eventually result in exagerrated amounts of anxiety. By maintaining a time table of our activities, our plans for the next six to 12 months, by keeping tag of our finances, we can lower our expectation levels from future events. This can mightily reduce our anxiety levels. In short, being realistic rather than bombastic in our expectations from either our work place, dream of owning a home, achievements from children or in finding the perfect spouse can reduce anxiety. Some people are known to harbor feelings of hate, violence, and dislike for other people, communities, races or work profiles. Such people are lacking in basic hygienes of harmony. Their minds are always lost in selfish thought and action. This eventually leads them to take to negative thought patterns and philosophies. They become interested in causing harm to others as also themselves, without taking account of the consequences. This can cause anxiety among the people around them and themselves, eventually resulting in their total failure to come to terms with reality. Hence, anxiety can also result from our inability to come to terms with immediate situations. By trying to understand other peoples way of life, their thought patterns and belief systems, we can always try to be more tolerant towards others. This can increase our scales of inner harmony, resulting in less anxiety.
Taking all such situations and mind sets into account, anxiety can be curbed by one and all. I have personally followed the above rules in earnest and have reaped rich results. Hope you can replicate it too in your daily lives.
